The Appeal of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijani SSR to the Supreme Council of USSR, to the Supreme Councils of the Soviet republics, to the Soviet nations, to Parliaments of all countries of the world, to the United Nations Organization
The terrible unprecedented crime perpetrates against the peaceful population of Baku city and the whole Azerbaijan. The Soviet State signed the Helsinki and Viennese agreements, and planned to held in Moscow in 1991 the international conference on Human Rights, declared itself the supporter of democratization, new thinking, and stated about building of the legal state, ignored the laws, violated numerous articles of the Constitution of USSR over the night from 19th to 20th January, implemented the direct aggression against Azerbaijan without sanctions of the Supreme Council of USSR and consent of authorities of the republic.- read more

Black January : The Bloody Birth Of the Azerbaijani Nation

Salakhadin Ragimov, 41, came to Martyr’s Lane Wednesday as he has every year to pay his respects to victims of “Black January,” Azerbaijan’s anniversary of a bloody Soviet crackdown in 1990.
Clutching some red carnations in one hand and his young son in the other, he filed past the black granite gravestones of the victims buried here, the most hallowed spot on Azerbaijani soil.-read more

Трагические события 20 явнаря 1990 года в Баку
12 января 1989 года Президиум Верховного Совета СССР вводит в Нагорно-Карабахской автономной области особую форму управления под председательством Вольского А.И. Были приостановлены полномочия Совета народных депутатов НКАО.
